While the building is beautiful (much nicer than any other body shop I took my car to), they would not even come outside to look at my car to give me an estimate! Supposedly they needed to open the hood to give an estimate, but if they opened it, there was no way it was going to close again... The people at the other two places I took it to had no problem peeking in through the gaps between the hood and the fender and giving me a rough estimate. Ended up going with Dover Auto Body, a shop geared toward giving the customer the best price. I have been very pleased with them so far.
I went to S & J in York without an appointment to get an estimate on some rust repair work. The owner came out and promptly looked at my car. I waited in a clean, modern waiting room while my estimate was prepared ... not typical of other automotive centers I've been to. The estimate was a bit higher than another I had received, but a friend had nothing but praise for S & J Collision, so I went with them. My job was done quickly and professionally. I am writing primarily because I had seen the other negative reviews on here, and don't feel they are warranted. My car looks great!
I was appalled at the attitude I received from the young lady that answered the phone when I called to set up an estimate and when I arrived, she was rude and almost surly to me. When she gave me the estimate from S and J, she informed me that it could vary even as much as $500 from the amount on the page. I have never been treated so rudely by a customer-oriented service in my life. I will go back to the dealer and pay the difference before I go back to S and J.
I brought my father car there to help him out after a minor fender bender. Customer service was terrible. Price was insane( taking advantage of insurance I think). Then they said they needed the car for FOUR DAYS. Two days to replace the bumper (which had MINOR scratches). And I needed a rental. I was an auto mechanic for 5 years so I understand the industry. I will never go there again!
